Operation Equinox

A forward by Nick Moir

Operation Equinox was undoubtedly a difficult and confusing time in our chapter’s history. On March 21st, 1991, University and Federal Police raided the Delta Upsilon house, along with two other fraternities, and arrested three brothers on various charges, including possession and distribution of controlled substances after a lengthy undercover operation. These brothers faced jail time, the fraternity was suspended, and the house was seized by the federal government. This edition of “The Duck” will feature a full-length article detailing the events leading up to the raid, the local reaction to the events, the prosecutions of the brothers involved, and how it affected the brotherhood. Former Chapter Alumni President Jay Hoover ‘81 conducted countless interviews, reviewed court documents, and provided his recollection of the events to write the most in-depth article ever written about Delta Upsilon’s involvement in Operation Equinox. Uncover the good, the bad, and the ugly of the full story on page 7.
